Cumberland County Among Maine’s Healthiest

A new national study gives Bowdoin’s home county — Cumberland County — high marks for overall health. The study, by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, ranked counties in all 50 states based on factors including smoking, obesity, binge drinking, access to primary care providers, high school graduation rates, crime rates, air pollution levels, liquor store density, unemployment rates and number of children living in poverty.
