Polar Bear Scoreboard: Men’s and Women’s Tennis Win Weekend Regionals, Head to NCAA Quarterfinals

Tennis: The Bowdoin men’s and women’s tennis teams both came away victorious at NCAA Regionals in Brunswick over the weekend.

The Polar Bear men cruised to a 5-0 win over MIT in a regional final Saturday, while the women followed it up with a dramatic 5-4 decision against Wesleyan Sunday.

The squads will make the trip to the national championship site in Chattanooga, Tenn., to play in the NCAA Quarterfinals Monday, May 22. More information on the championship will be available Tuesday.

Rowing: Bowdoin Rowing had five crews competing in Philadelphia’s Dad Vail regatta Friday and Saturday. Torrential rain forced the Race Committee to reschedule events and ultimately cancel Saturday afternoon’s races, but Bowdoin crews shone nonetheless, with Men’s JV Four winning the silver medal. Both the Men’s Varsity Four and the Women’s Novice Four finished fourth in their Grand Finals, in events won by Georgia Tech and Purdue. The Men’s Novice Four won the Petite Final with a time that would have taken fifth in the Grand.  The Women’s Varsity Four was seeded first in the Third Final but the race was cancelled due to weather.
