Saturday Scoreboard: Men’s Lacrosse Improves to 9-1; Tennis Teams Roll On

Men’s Lacrosse: The Bowdoin College men’s lacrosse team stifled Connecticut College on Saturday, 9-5, to extend its winning streak to nine games. The Polar Bears (9-1, 6-1 NESCAC), ranked 13th in the latest Division III poll, held the Camels to just two goals in the second half in the win. Connecticut College falls to 6-5 (2-4 NESCAC) with the loss.

Women’s Lacrosse: The Bowdoin College women’s lacrosse team used a five-goal run in the second half to win its first conference game of the season, 14-12, over Connecticut College on Saturday at Ryan Field. The Polar Bears improve to 5-6 (1-6 NESCAC) while the Camels fall to 5-6 (1-5 NESCAC).

Rowing: At the opening day of competition at the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake, NJ, the Bowdoin Navy advanced five of its seven entries to the Grand Finals, and two crews to the Petite Final in a national field. The women’s novice four and men’s novice B boat made the Petite Finals, while the men’s novice four A boat, men’s varsity four and second varsity four, went on to the Grand Final. The women’s first and second fours posted the two fastest times of the event to claim two spots in the Grand Final. All finals race on Sunday.

Sailing: The Polar Bears are competing in several regattas around the region this weekend. In-progress results are available here.

Softball: Bowdoin softball completed the series sweep with a pair of wins at Bates on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears (12-7-1, 3-1 NESCAC) captured a 6-3 victory in the opener before pinning an 11-6 setback on the Bobcats (0-26, 0-3 NESCAC) in game two.

Men’s Tennis: The Bowdoin College men’s tennis team blanked Hamilton 9-0 in a match played indoors at Farley Field House on Saturday afternoon. The second-ranked Polar Bears remain unbeaten at 9-0 this spring (3-0 NESCAC). Hamilton falls to 4-7 (0-2 NESCAC).

Women’s Tennis: The Bowdoin women’s tennis team swept visiting Hamilton on Saturday morning in a 9-0 decision. The Polar Bears (10-1, 4-0 NESCAC) did not drop a single set to the Continentals (11-3, 0-2 NESCAC) in all nine matches.

Track and Field: The Bowdoin College men’s outdoor track and field team placed first while the women’s team took second at the home-opening Bowdoin Invitational at Magee-Samuelson track on Saturday afternoon.
