George Mitchell ’54, H’83, the former Senate majority leader who helped broker peace in Northern Ireland, will be out in front today when, as grand marshal, he leads the 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City.

Just yesterday, Sen. Mitchell was in Brunswick, helping launch the expansion of the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. During a news conference, at which Nan and Bob Morrell ’47 were present, Mitchell spoke about his days as a Bowdoin student and his gratitude for having been given his first job by the Morrell family.
