Start Early — Why It’s Best to Take Tests First Thing in the Morning (Harvard Business School)

Tell your kids to take that test first thing in the morning and get yourself out of the office at lunchtime.

These are among the recommendations of Harvard researchers who say the reality of cognitive fatigue means we’re at our best at the start of the day or after we take a break.

    I find much truth in the sharpness of the early bird mentality. A good test is to begin a challenging crossword puzzle late in the day. If it seems undoable, put it aside until morning and begin again. There will be a marked reduction in complexity. Mental push-ups, I call it. G
