Wil Smith ’00: A Life Remembered (NPR)

Wil Smith '00

Wil Smith ’00

Wil Smith’s story is well known in the Bowdoin community and beyond. The single father and non-traditional student who climbed the Museum steps on graduation day with daughter Olivia in his arms would go on to inspire others through his work with the Seeds of Peace International Camp and as an associate dean at the College. Smith died Sunday having succumbed to cancer.

Following appearances over the years on The NBC Nightly News, Today and Oprah, Smith and his daughter recorded a poignant conversation for StoryCorps. NPR’s Morning Edition remembered Smith with a rebroadcast of that father-daughter exchange.

Read coverage in the Portland Press Herald and in Yankee magazine.
