The Magna Carta, “great charter” in Latin, one the most important documents of Medieval England, was signed in June 1215 between the feudal barons and King John. Now 800 years old, The Economist looks at how a failed treaty between combatants came “to be seen as the foundation of liberty in the Anglo-Saxon world.”
