Slideshow: Students Remember Those Lost on 9/11

9/11 memorial 9/11/13

Members of Bowdoin Student Government were out early this morning, posting American flags — one for each victim — in Coe Quad in memory of the people who died in the 9/11 attacks. BSG President Sarah Nelson ’14 was there first at 6:35 a.m.; other members of BSG’s executive committee joined her at 7:15 a.m. They were finished a little before 9 a.m., after volunteers passing by stopped to help.

A flag was also planted at the memorial on campus for Bowdoin’s Frank Doyle ’85, who along with Jim Roux ’81 and Chris Gardner ’87, died that day.

This simultaneously made me proud, gave me the chills, and humbled me. What a beautiful gesture. Thank you, dear Bowdoin and Bowdoin students of today, for making me once again feel so grateful and honored to be a part of your campus and history.
