“The public deserves to hear your questions and our answers,” wrote diplomat Thomas Pickering ’53 and retired admiral Mike Mullen, co-chairmen of the Accountability Review Board, in a May 16 letter to Darrel Issa, chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Last year the accountability board reviewed September’s deadly attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Libyaa report that was lambasted by Issa, who has been engaged in a dispute with the co-chairs ever since. While Issa suggested a meeting behind closed doors, Pickering and Mullen called for a public hearing on May 28 or June 3.
