Common Good, Alumni Council Awards to be Presented at Reunion Convocation June 1

Three awards honoring outstanding leadership and service to the College will be presented June 1, 2013, during Reunion Convocation. The Common Good Award, selected by the Bowdoin College Board of Trustees, and Alumni Service Award and Distinguished Educator Award, chosen by the Alumni Council, recognize members of the Bowdoin community for their exemplary achievement and dedication. Gen X May Need to Downgrade Lifestyle for Retirement (Forbes)

Thumbs down (Illustration credit: Abby McBride)A recent study reported by Forbes shows that if members of Generation X and late baby boomers continue on their current track, they will replace only 50 percent of their pre-retirement income upon retirement—far less than previous generations in recent history. This shift may be due in large part to a collapse in employer-provided retirement benefits in the past three decades.
