Then and Now: Polar Bear Mascots

 

Although Bowdoin sends its polar bear mascot to the tailor for regular repairs, the bear occasionally needs to be retired and a younger version brought in. Over the decades, the different mascots have shared a family resemblance while also slightly evolving up to the present-day incarnation — a big fluffy, cuddly polar bear, a bear we hear that not only delights fans and hugs children, but also telemark skis and writes poetry.
