Photo Gallery: Commencement Weekend 2011

The skies cleared and a gray spring turned bright for Bowdoin’s 206th Commencement exercises. The ceremonies began on Friday at Baccalaureate with addresses by President Barry Mills, Aaron Cole ’11, and acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair H’11, and a performance by banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck H’11. The sun continued to shine as the day concluded with the traditional Bowdoin lobster bake. Saturday, following the pageantry of the procession around the Quad, President Mills and student speakers Joelinda Coichy ’11 and Edward Gottfried ’11 addressed the audience, and honorary degrees were bestowed upon John Baldacci, Béla Fleck, Cynthia M. Friend, Henry A. Millon, and Mira Nair. Photographer Michele Stapleton was there to capture it all as a new class of Bowdoin alumni made their way into the wider world.

A nice collection of photos, but adding captions would have made them more interesting
