Graphs and charts don’t make for great radio stories, so in order to share news of U.S. home prices over the last 10 years with their listeners, producers behind the NPR show Planet Money had to get creative.

They converted data from the Case-Shiller Price Index to musical notes — and recruited Juilliard baritone Timothy McDevitt to sing them.

Listen to the rise and fall in this clip from NPR’s Planet Money.
