Maine Town First in Nation to Declare ‘Food Sovereignty’ (Technorati)

The coastal town of Sedgwick, Maine, just southwest of Acadia National Park, has declared ‘food sovereignty.’ The “Local Food and Community Self-Governance Ordinance,” allows residents freedom “to produce and sell foods of their choosing, without government intervention.” Sedgwick is the first town in the country to pass such an ordinance, and one of only a few in the world.
