Men’s Lacrosse: Amherst’s Quinn Maroney contributed 10 points to lead the Jeffs over Bowdoin, 13-6, in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament Saturday. Having a hand in 10 of the team’s first 11 scores, Moroney finished with three goals and seven assists as the Jeffs improved to 13-3 on the season and 2-2 against the Polar Bears (9-7) in conference tournament play.
Women’s Lacrosse: The second-seeded Amherst women’s lacrosse team held off Bowdoin, 11-5, in a NESCAC quarterfinal victory Saturday afternoon. In the fifth NESCAC tournament meeting between the schools, Amherst improved to 3-2 against Bowdoin in league championship play and 15-1 on the season. The Polar Bears see their season come to and end with an 8-7 record.
Penn Relays: Bowdoin senior Coby Horowitz, the reigning NCAA Division III champion in the mile, competed in the Olympic Development Mile Division at the internationally renowned Penn Relays Saturday. In a world class field, Horowitz posted a time of 4:06.44 to place eighth among 12 competitors in front of nearly 50,000 fans – the seventh-largest crowd in Penn Relays history.
Rowing: At the 18th Annual President’s Cup, The Bowdoin crew finished second behind Bates and ahead of Colby in overall points. Bowdoin won the Men’s and Women’s Fours, finished second in the Women’s Eight, and Men’s and Women’s Novice Fours, and came third in the Men’s Eight. Next weekend, the team will compete in the New England Rowing Championships in Worcester, Mass.
Men’s Tennis: The Bowdoin College men’s tennis team lost to Williams 7-2 on Saturday afternoon in battle of nationally-ranked squads. The fifth-ranked Ephs improve to 13-5 (6-2 NESCAC) while the 12th-ranked Polar Bears fall to 9-8 (4-4 NESCAC). Bowdoin will close out its regular season on Sunday against Stevens at 11:00 a.m.
Women’s Tennis: The Bowdoin College women’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Williams in its regular season finale Saturday. The Polar Bears, ranked seventh nationally, finish their regular slate with a record of 13-5. Williams, ranked first in Division III, improves to 17-1 on the year.
Men’s Track and Field: Behind the winning performance of the 4×800 meter relay team, the Bowdoin College men’s track & field team placed sixth Saturday at the NESCAC Championship hosted by Colby. The Polar Bears totaled 55.20 points overall.
Women’s Track and Field: Pole vaulter Erin Silva won the NESCAC Championship to lead the Bowdoin College women’s track & field team at the conference meet Saturday at Colby. The women’s team finished in fifth place overall with 72 total points.
