An article in Nature explains that since the 1970s, scientists have discovered that several psycho-social factors, such as strong social networks, recalling and confronting fears, and an optimistic outlook help people to recover. These days, though, scientists are digging deeper, into our brains and our genes. Studies show that the brains of people with PTSD look quite different from those of people who have experienced trauma but not developed PTSD.
