Cross Country: The Tufts University men and Williams College women claimed the crowns at the 2012 New England Small College Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Bowdoin on Saturday. Coby Horowitz of Bowdoin earned the men’s individual title with a time of 24:26.78, edging Tufts’ Matt Rand in the final stretch to win by a half-second. He is the first Polar Bear to win the event since Stephen Allison in 2000.
Field Hockey: Rachel Kennedy scored a pair of goals as the Bowdoin College Field Hockey team sprinted to an early lead and never looked back in a 3-0 win over Williams College in NESCAC Quarterfinal action on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field.
Football: The Wesleyan University football team scored 34 unanswered points to rally from an early deficit and take a 34-14 win over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Andrus Field.
Men’s Soccer: The Tufts men’s soccer team advanced to the NESCAC semi-finals for the first time since 2001 after eliminating Bowdoin, 3-0, in the quarterfinals on Saturday at Kraft Field.
Women’s Rugby: The Bowdoin College women’s rugby team closed out a perfect regular season with a resounding 51-3 win over Amherst on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears finish their regular season with a record of 9-0 (6-0 NESCRC), will be the top seed and will host the NESCRC Championship next weekend at Pickard Field. Pairings will be announced on Sunday with match times tentatively scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. next Saturday, November 3.
Women’s Soccer: Jamie Hofstetter scored three goals to lead the Bowdoin College women’s soccer team to its first NESCAC playoff win since 2007, 3-2 over Hamilton on Saturday at Pickard Field.
Women’s Volleyball: The Bowdoin College women’s volleyball team rebounded from a disappointing Friday loss to take a resounding 3-0 win at Williams on Saturday.
