Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns — who was awarded an honorary degree at Bowdoin in 1991 — has refused to comply with a subpoena from the City of New York. NYC lawyers want outtakes and notes from Burns’s upcoming documentary, “The Central Park Five,” in order to defend a lawsuit by five young men who were wrongly convicted of the rape of a jogger in Central Park in 1989.
